Still suffering from the PTSD induced by the long acrylic nails of my teens and 20’s, I have been reluctant to delve into the dips and gel manicures of today. I have completely avoided the dips as I am reluctant to try any manicure that involves the nail drill. When I finally soaked off my acrylic nails all those years ago, I was left with a thin layer where my healthy nail used to be. The discomfort of waiting for my nails to grow back has stuck with me. I have, however, tried a gel manicure……once. I had a formal event coming up and I wanted a manicure that would not only stand out, but would last so I opted for a gel manicure. My nails started to chip a measly two days after I had them done. Sadly, I have the same results from a classic manicure. I just can’t keep polish on. In addition, I really don’t have the time in my life to sit in a salon for an hour every week or every other week.
Enter Color Street nails into my life. A friend recommended the nail polish strips to me, so I figured I would give it a go. I went online and selected a few colors. Within a few days, they arrived at my doorstep. I watched a YouTube video on how to apply them and learned some great tips. I struggled a bit at first, but quickly got the hang of it. I was quite pleased by how they looked, but would they last? I thought for sure they would suffer the same fate as all other attempts to keep polish on. However, after about a week and a half, the polish was still intact! I was shocked. I found my answer! Since becoming a “regular ” with Color Street, I have really gotten the hang of it. I can apply a set of nails in about 10 minutes. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy the manicure experience at the salon and I do still go, but the first thing I do when I get home? Slap on “Clear as day”. It’s a clear polish sticker I apply right over my manicure and it extends the life to the typical week to two weeks.
