Last minute, we booked a staycation at Tidal Cove located in the JW Marriott Turnberry, Aventura. For us, vacations are often planned months in advance. There was fun in the spontaneity of booking the trip and embarking on the adventure just two days later. My daughter, Delaney, and I took the Brightline train down and my husband met us later in the day. The Brightline is a relatively new high speed train connecting us with Miami. The train is a truly enjoyable way to travel as it is always clean, the staff is always friendly, and you can enjoy a glass of bubbles ( or the beverage of your choice) as your make your way toward your destination.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were pleased to be granted an early check-in. We made our way to our room and dropped off our bags. The room was spacious and well appointed. We took a quick view of the water park from the nicely sized balconey and Delaney was ready to take on Tidal Cove. We spent the day navigating the lazy river, playing in the pool, and the splash zone. Delaney also had fun “body boarding ” on the Flowrider and having her hair braided with colorful string and beads. Tidal cove also boasts several waterslides. My husband joined us for dinner and we enjoyed a lovely meal at The Green Pointe which was just a short drive from the hotel. Both the food and service were excellent. We capped off the evening back at the hotel’s, Corsair. Sean and I each indulged in a glass of wine while Delaney devoured a warm chocolate chip cookie stuffed with Nutella and served with a side of vanilla ice cream. The cookie was larger than her head! The next day, we started our day off with a Starbucks breakfast which was conveniently located on the grounds of the hotel. Then, we hit Tidal Cove for another day of fun in the sun. We definitely packed in as much fun as we could during our stay.
The trip was short, but spontaneous and fun. Staycations are great reminders to appreciate where you live. It’s so easy to get caught up in the doldrums of every day life that you ignore or overlook all the beauty that surrounds you. For us, it was a wonderful reminder as to why we live where everyone likes to vacation!
