“And That’s Amore!”

Who doesn’t love Italian? I know we do! It’s the one meal we can all agree on to prepare at home as a family (well, sort of!). Also, some of our favorite restaurants are Italian. When we ate out, I began to notice that Delaney would always gravitate toward the ones that served fresh pasta. I mean the taste of fresh pasta IS unmistakable. Then I started thinking, what if we started making it at home? I know it’s easy to buy fresh pasta, but wouldn’t it be more fun to make it? Plus, then you can control what goes in it.

Making pasta at home is easier than you would guess. You just need the right tools. We purchased this cuisinart pasta maker and it’s great. It’s easy to use, fast, and simple. Once you make the dough, it’s only a small extra step.

For a simple dough recipe, I like allrecipies. There are only 5 ingredients which gives the pasta that fresh flavor and simplifies the process. I have also experimented with doubling the recipe and freezing the extra dough. It comes out great! Since we have such a picky eater, I am contemplating adding some protein powder into the dough. Stay tuned for those results!

The added benefit of making the pasta at home was how much fun Delaney had making it. It was a HUGE success! I am pretty sure Delaney ate her weight in pasta that first night. Once you’ve gone fresh, you won’t go back.
